Today we’ll be reviewing the Alcatel OT-993. The Alcatel OT-993 isn’t an extraordinarily powerful phone. The Alcatel OT-993 is pretty decent enough phone, however, it isn’t one of the strongest ones either. Also, the Alcatel OT-993 is a Dual-SIM phone, and Dual-SIM phones usually lack hardware strength. However, this phone, apart from being of average strength and being a Daul-SIM phone, is also a very good looking Android Device. Since I aim not to waste time with long intros, let us begin this little review.
We’ll start off with a little summary of the phone, as I promised a while back that I would include these short parts into my reviews. The Alcatel OT-993 isn’t a very powerful phone so many of the new games or the video demanding ones won’t works well on it. However, this is after all a Dual-SIM phone, and many people purchase such phones for practical reasons, not to procrastinate with games and apps and such. The Alcatel OT-993 also looks fantastic and it may not be that expensive either. Since I don’t really want to give that much away in this part, I strongly recommend reading on as I will not post any more information here.
We’ll start off the official review with a brief look at the more general aspects of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the supported networks and the announcement and release dates. The Alcatel OT-993 supports the following networks : 2G ones ( GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 ) and 3G ones ( HSDPA 900 and HSDPA 2100 on SIM 1 and HSDPA 850, HSDPA 1900 and HSDPA 2100 on SIM 2). The Alcatel OT-993 hasn’t been officially announced yet, however, people seem to think that it will be announced in August 2012 and it will be released the same month. That’s about all I’m going to say on this part, so let us move on now to the next one.

The Alcatel OT-993 is around 124.4 x 63.9 x 11.4 mm big and it weighs somewhere around 150 grams. The only feature of the Alcatel OT-993’s body is that it has Touch-Sensitive Controls instead of frontal buttons. That’s about it for the body, so let us move on now.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the display of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the type of screen of the device and also see the size of the screen, the screen’s resolution and pixel density and also find out whether or not said screen has any particularities and any screen protection. The Alcatel OT-993 has a TFT capacitive touchscreen with approximately 16 million colors. The screen size of this phone is a 4.0 inches big one and it can reach a resolution of approximately 480 x 800 pixels. The pixel density of this phone is a pretty good one, the display having a pixel density of approximately 233 ppi. The Alcatel OT-993 also has Multitouch, however, this is not the advanced sorts of multitouch that supports more than two simultaneous fingers on it. The Alcatel OT-993 has no screen protection on it, so you’ll have to be extra careful with its handling. The Alcatel OT-993 has no other features on it, aside from the previously mentioned multitouch. That’s all I ca say about this part, so let us move on now to the next one.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the audio output capabilities of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about whether or not the Alcatel OT-993 has any sound enhancements on it whatsoever, be them software-based or otherwise. I won’t go into many other details on this part since most people already know that anything goes as Alert Types of Android Phones and that all phones have at least one Loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack. Sadly, the Alcatel OT-993 has no notable sound enhancement whatsoever on it. Out of anything else to write about on this part, let us move on now.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the memory of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the internal storage space of the device as well as see whether or not the Alcatel OT-993 has any RAM and whether or not its internal storage space can be expanded. The Alcatel OT-993 has an internal storage space of around 3 GB. If that isn’t enough for you, know that this phone also has a Micro SD card slot which can use any Micro SD card of up to 32 GB. It is unknown as of yet if the Alcatel OT-993 has any RAM memory, and how much of it it may or may not have. Since I’ve nothing left to say here, let us move on now to the next part.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the connectivity of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the GPRS and EDGE of the device, the Speed and WLAN as well as the Bluetooth, USB and other ( if any ) connections of the device. The Alcatel OT-993 has both GPRS and EDGE, both of them at Class 12. The GPRS has 4+1, 3+2, 2+3 and 1+4 slots and can reach a speed of approximately 32 ~ 48 KB/s. The EDGE of this device is a Class 12 one and it is not specified what speed it can reach. The Alcatel OT-993 has a speed which can be measured as following : HSDPA at around 7.2 MB/s. The WLAN of this phone is a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot. The Bluetooth of this device is a v3.0 one with A2DP. This phone also has a Micro USB v2.0 port on it.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the camera of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the main and secondary cameras ( if any ) and also see a thing or two about their capabilities. The main camera of this device is a 5 MP one which can photograph at resolutions of around 2592 x 1944 pixels. The features of this camera are as following : autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging. The Alcatel OT-993 can also record video, however, it doesn’t seem to be one of the 4 MP cameras that can record in 720p HD at 30 frames per second. As of yet there is no news of its video quality. The secondary frontal camera of the Alcatel OT-993 is a VGA one. That’s about all that there is to know about this part, so let’s move on now to the next one.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the battery of the Alcatel OT-993 since battery life is usually a very large issue with mobile devices. Here you can find out a bit about the battery type of the Alcatel OT-993 and also see how long said battery can function. The Alcatel OT-993 has a Standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery. This battery is capable of functioning for up to 420 hours of Stand-By time and up to 4 hours talk-time in 2G and 3 hours talk-time in 3G mode. That’s about all that can be said for the battery of this phone, so let’s move on now.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the hardware of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the three main hardware components of the device : processor, motherboard and graphics card. Unfortunately, the Alcatel OT-993 only has one of the three, that being a Processor. The processor of this device is a Single-Core 1 GHz one. As I mentioned before, the hardware isn’t the strong point of this phone, as from what you can see for yourself, it is pretty weak compared to the standards of today. Since I’ve nothing left to say here, let’s move on now.
Next up we’ll be taking a look at the software of the Alcatel OT-993. Here you can find out a bit about the software version of the device and see whether or not the device needs or can handle an update to a better version. The Alcatel OT-993 has Android OS v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on it. Currently it is the latest version available for Android phones. Frankly, I still don’t know yet whether or not the Android OS v4.1 Jelly Bean will be available for Android Device. Frankly, I say we wait and see as time tends to straighten things out. Having nothing left to say here, let us move on now to the last part of the Alcatel OT-993.
