Sony Xperia SX SO-05D

Today we’re going to review the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D. This is one of the three newly announced phones from Sony. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D is a really powerful phone, however, it’s sort of limited. This phone is known to only come out in the Japan market. While there has been much protest and plead world-wide for this phone to be released in other places as well, little is known whether or not the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D will actually come out in any other country than Japan. What you will find here are the Official Preliminary Specifications, so the phone may or may not be a bit different from what you will find here. However, these being the official specs, you can trust me on the fact that the phone will be very similar to what you can find here.

Without further ado, lets begin this little review.

GENERAL

First off we’ll be taking a look at the more general aspects of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D. Here you can find out a bit of info about the supported networks and the announcement and release dates of the device. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D, apart from supporting both 2G and 3G networks, also has support for 4G ones. Those networks are as follows : GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 ( the 2G ones ), HSDPA ( the 3G ones — it isn’t specified which HSDPA networks ) and LTE 2100 ( the 4G one ). This phone was announced in May 2012 and the official release date is to be somewhere around Q3 of 2012. That’s about it for the generals, let us move on now.

BODY

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the body of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D. Here you can find out a bit of info about the size and weight of the device as well as find out whether or not the device has any body-related particularities that we should be aware of. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D is around 115 x 54 x 9.4 mm big and weighs somewhere around 95 grams. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D also has Touch-Sensitive Controls instead of buttons. SOUND

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the sound of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D. This phone also has an Infrared port, something I haven’t seen in a while. The USB port of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D is a Micro USB ( MHL ) v2.0 one. That’s enough for the connectivity of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D, so let’s move on.

CAMERA

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the camera of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D. Here you can find out a bit about the main and secondary cameras of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D, their features and their capabilities. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D has an 8 MP main camera capable of photographing at resolutions of around 3264 x 2448 pixels. The messaging on the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D can be done via : SMS ( with Threaded view ), MMS, E-Mail, IM and Push Mail. The browser of the Sony Xperia SX SO-05D uses HTML 5 and has integrated support for Adobe Flash. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D also has a Radio with TBD and a GPS with A-GPS support. This phone also has Java through Java MIDP emulation. The Sony Xperia SX SO-05D is available in a wide array of colors : Black, White, Pink and Orange. Out of all of those, I must say, in my opinion the Black one looks best since the frontal part of the phone is Black on all models and it fits best with the Black plastic on it.

  1. Not a very good review.  These are just specs of the phone.  There should have been some comparison to get an idea of how good (or bad) this phone is.
