Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD

Today we shall be taking a brief look at the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD. While in the past I have said some bad things about their products, things like their products are weak, I did so with good intention since their phones and tablets were quite weaker than most. But I’m really glad to see that those products which were weaker than the rest in the past have decided to put the pedal to the medal and set out for glory. Huawei thus managed to achieve quite a lot in a short amount of time since it set the cores of their products to full throttle, all four of them. Yes, that’s correct, this tablet has a Quad-Core processor, just as the many newer phones from Huawei. One can say that it may not be the best if ideas to put such a processor in such a device, and I’m not exactly sure what to believe. I would tend to agree with those persons considering that such small devices are already powerful enough and there is a good chance that they won’t be able to use a Quad-Core processor to its fullest. Even highly powered laptops aren’t capable of using their resources to the fullest. That raises a few doubts about technology and the direction it has taken. This device is actually quite special to me. It’s stronger than most in both hardware and software. What I’m most excited about this tablet is the fact that it proves me right when I said there will be Android Devices with more than 1 GB of RAM. And here it is ( well, here it will be, somewhere around Q2 or Q3 of 2012 ).

Still, without trying to comprehend that any further, let us begin this little review / preview of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD.

  • Processor : Quad-Core 1.5 GHz
  • RAM : 2 GB
  • Android OS : 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Camera : 8 MP
  • Display : 1920 x 1200 pixels, 10.0 inches (~226 ppi pixel density)

BODY

We shall start off this little review / preview of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD. There isn’t enough information about this phone as to say for certain how big this phone is. The only thing we know for certain is that this device is approximately 8.8 mm thick. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD weighs about 598 grams ( that’s for certain, but as I’ve mentioned before, the stuff about the size is uncertain since there isn’t enough information available ).

DISPLAY

The Type of display of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with around 16 Million colors. The size of the screen is around 10.0 inches and the resolution reached by this device is around : 1920 x 1200 pixels. The pixel density of this device is around 226 ppi. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has Multitouch on it, but there isn’t enough information about how many fingers can run simultaneously on this device.

SOUND

The Alert Types supported by the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD are as follows : vibration and MP3 ringtones. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has a loudspeaker with stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm jack. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD doesn’t have any means of enhancing sound quality whatsoever.

MEMORY

The Internal storage space of this device is around 8 GB of storage. This being said, if 8 GB of storage space aren’t enough to satisfy your needs, you can always use the MicroSD card which accepts any MicroSD card of up to 32 GB. As previously mentioned, the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD has 2 GB of RAM, instead of the usual 1 GB which we have grown to be quite fond of. This is good, actually, this means progress. Also, a while back I actually glimpsed a “rumored” version of the Galaxy S III and it had a Quad-Core, 2 GB of RAM and a 12 MP camera. This can only mean that there is a high chance that when it will come out it will have these specs. I mean, there are already Quad-Cores around, I’ve seen phones with 43 MP cameras and now this device comes with 2 GB of RAM. The future is looking brighter and brighter ( counting that we survive this “apocalypse”, just like we did with every other annual apocalypse ).

DATA

Moving on to the data connectivity of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD has GPRS and EDGE but the sources where I get my info seem to be either incomplete on this part or the GPRS and EDGE aren’t actually of any notable Class. The speeds reached by the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD are : HSDPA at around 42 MB/s and HSUPA. Let us not forget that it can also be used with LTE. The WLAN of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Hotspot. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has Bluetooth but no idea which version. It does have A2DP and EDR however. It also has a USB port.

CAMERA

The main camera of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is an 8 MP snapper with a resolution of the photographed images of around 3264 x 2448 pixels. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has a lot of features for the main camera. The features of the main camera include and are limited to : autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging. The video recorder is capable of recording at 1080p but with who knows how many frames. Still, the feat itself is pretty darn impressive. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has a secondary 1.3 MP camera, but with no impressing feats to its name. Let us move on.

HARDWARE

The processor of this device is a really powerful one, but you may have already guessed since it has been said more than once in this article. The processor is a Quad-Core 1.5 GHz K3. The chipset of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is a Huawei K3V2 ( Huawei brand, Huawei product : purely for marketing reasons ). No GPU for some reason. Perhaps the chipset is strong enough to handle it, we’ll see when it comes out.

SOFWARE

The version of Android OS that this tablet will have is Android OS v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. I’m really glad to see that this most powerful device will come out with the latest version of Android OS. There are so many other devices that don’t have v4.0. Some of them say “planned upgrade to” but that planned upgrade can be even a few months away.

FEATURES

The sensors of this device are : accelerometer, gyro and compass. The messaging of this tablet is done via : SMS ( with threaded view ), MMS, E-Mail, Push Mail and even IM. The browser of this device supports HTML5 and Adobe Flash. Sadly enough it has no Radio, but that isn’t a tragedy since you can listen to whatever radio post you want by checking their website or download a radio app or something. The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD also has GPS with A-GPS support. The Java of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is present through Java MIDP emulation. The only color that this product will come out in is : white.

In the end, here is a brief list of the things that the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD can do:

  • Google Search, Maps, Gmail, Talk
  • MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+/FLAC player
  • MP4/WMV/H.263/H.264 player
  • Organizer
  • Voice memo
  • Predictive text input
