HTC One: The New HTC Flagship Has Arrived

HTC held a recent launch event to unleash its new flagship smartphone, the HTC One, on the world. Building upon the reputation of last year’s HTC One series of devices, the HTC One takes mobile functionality to a whole new level with some pretty jaw-dropping features.

We got some one-on-one time with the device to find out firsthand what is has to offer.
Here are the highlights…

Key features:

  • 4.7-inch 1080p display
  • 1.7GHz quad-core processor
  • Android Jelly Bean operating system
  • HTC Sense user interface with BlinkFeed homescreen
  • UltraPixel camera
  • HTC BoomSound dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers
  • 9.3mm thick aluminium casing

Dazzling display

The HTC One features a stunning 4.7-inch full 1080p HD display that produces some incredibly crisp and colourful images. The screen is nestled in an all aluminium chassis that weighs 143g, and measures in at just 9.3mm thick. This combination of an amazing display and slick casing makes the HTC One a very attractive proposition indeed.

HTC BlinkFeed homescreen

HTC BlinkFeed is a live homescreen on the HTC One that can be adapted and personalised to suit. For example, you can choose to have live news or social networking updates on your homescreen, instead of the usual app icons and widgets offered by Android devices.

UltraPixel camera with HTC Zoe

The innovative UltraPixel camera on the HTC One captures 300% more light than standard mobile snappers, making low light shots much clearer. There’s also a camera feature called ‘HTC Zoe’ on board that captures up to 20 photos in a 3-second video burst every
time you press the shutter button. This means you can scroll back and forth through the video to select your ideal shot and even edit these ‘Zoes’ together to form a kind of GIF-like image.

Whether the HTC One can triumph over devices such as Apple’s iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S III remains to be seen, but judging by what’s been demoed so far, it could be an extremely strong contender. You can take a look at the HTC One in action by watching our hands-on video in which we put the new smartphone through its paces.
