Today we’re going to take a look at the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D. This is a really powerful phone, as are most of the phones in this series. However, make no mistake, although somewhat similar in name, they are not that similar in their specifications. This phone was specifically designed to be released for the Japanese market. However, it may be released world-wide if Sony pays any attention to the desire of the people. Most people want this phone to be released world-wide, but in the end, only time will tell.

Let’s skip the long intros and begin this little review.

GENERAL

We’ll begin by taking a look at the more general aspects of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D. Here you can find out a bit of info about the supported networks and the announcement and release dates of the device. The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D supports both 2G and 3G networks and those networks are as follows : GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 ( the 2G ones ) and HSDPA 800, HSDPA 850, HSDPA 1700, HSDPA 2100 ( the 3G ones ). The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D was announced in May 2012 and no solid news was released up till now as to when exactly this phone is to hit the market. However, it is safe to assume that you can find the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D in stores by the end of Q3 2012. Since there’s nothing left to say here, let us move on to the next part of the review.

BODY

The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D has 1 GB of RAM, which is pretty darn powerful considering this is the current maximum. The storage space of this device is as following : 11 GB of internal space, and if that large amount doesn’t suffice for your greedy needs, know that the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D has a Micro SD card slot which can use any Micro SD card of up to 32 GB. That’s it for the memory, let’s move on.

DATA CONNECTION

This phone’s USB port is a Micro USB v2.0 one. That’s about it for the connections, let’s move on now.

CAMERA

Next we’ll be taking a look at the camera of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D. Here you can find out a bit of info about the main and secondary cameras, their features and their capabilities. The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D’s main camera is a 12 MP one. This powerful camera can photograph at resolutions of around 4000 x 3000 pixels. The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D’s main camera has a lot of features, among which you can find : autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama and image stabilization. The video recorder of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D can record in 1080p full HD at around 30 frames per second. The video recorder of this device has its own features too : continuous autofocus, video light and video stabilizer. The secondary camera of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D is a 1.3 MP one capable of recording in 720p HD at around 30 frames per second. BATTERY LIFE

Perhaps one may appear in the near future, otherwise, it would be quite a shame to have all that power controlled by such an old OS. That’s enough said about the software of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D. Let’s move on to the final part of this review.

FEATURES

Last but not least, let’s take a brief look at the features and capabilities of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D. The sensors of this phone are : Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity and Compass. The messaging on this phone can be done via : SMS ( with Threaded View ), MMS, E-Mail, IM and Push Mail. The browser of the Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D uses HTML5 and has integrated support for Adobe Flash. The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D also has a Stereo FM radio with RDS. The GPS of this device has integrated support for A-GPS and GLONASS. This phone also has Java via Java MIDP emulation. The Sony Xperia Acro HD SO-03D is available in the following colors : Black, Aqua, Sakura and Ceramic.

  2. I don’t think they released the update for this phone. Sony is releasing so many phones and it is unlikely that they will update them. Instead of this, they would encourage you to buy another phone from them with the new OS version.
