LG Optimus L3 E405

Today we’ll be reviewing the LG Optimus L3 E405. The LG Optimus L3 E405 isn’t a very powerful phone, however, power in phones is something only young people consider. Nowadays many people past 40 decide to get Android Phones since there seems to be more and more of them introduced into the markets of every country. Those people think rationally and don’t really want to place much emphasis on the power of a phone since, after all, what good is power if you’re going to use it as a regular phone or for business purposes ? Therefore, such phones as the LG Optimus L3 E405 are preferred since they are weaker than most, and thus, they are more affordable. Since there’s no point in extending this intro any more, let us commence this little review.

SUMMARY

As promised in the past a while back, I will start my articles off with a small summary of the phone’s good points and bad ones. The LG Optimus L3 E405, which is also known as the LG Optimus L3 Dual or LG Optimus L3 DualSIM, isn’t a very powerful phones, as I have clearly stated above. However, it is a Dual-SIM phone, which is something impressive no matter what, and it does have a fairly acceptable configuration. It isn’t the kind of phone that will freeze when you click on Contacts. However, don’t think you’ll use this phone for gaming or for powerful video-demanding apps. This phone is meant to be used as a phone and occasionally for an Angry Birds game or something like that. That’s all I’m going to say for this part, if you want to know more, do keep on reading.

GENERAL

We’ll start off the review per say by taking a look at the more general aspects of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the supported networks and the announcement and release dates. THe LG Optimus L3 E405 uses both 2G and 3G networks, and it is also a Dual-SIM phone. The networks this phone uses are as following : 2G ( GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 ) and 3G ( HSDPA 900 and HSDPA 2100 on SIM 1 and HSDPA 850, HSDPA 900, HSDPA 1900 and HSDPA 2100 on SIM 2 ). The LG Optimus L3 E405 was announced in January 2012 and is set to come out somewhere around July 2012, which is a pretty long waiting time in my opinion. However, let us hope this phone will be worth the wait. That’s all that can be said for this part, so let’s move on now to the next part.

BODY

Next up we’ll be taking a brief look at the aspect of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the size and weight of the device and also see whether or not the LG Optimus L3 E405 has any particularities that might set it apart from the rest of the Android phones. The LG Optimus L3 E405 is around 102.6 x 61.6 x 11.9 mm big and it weighs somewhere around 119 grams. Although my sources fail to specify it, I do believe the LG Optimus L3 E405 also has Touch-Sensitive Controls instead of frontal buttons since I doubt those things below the screen are press-able buttons ( you rarely find buttons which are that flat ). That’s it for this part, so let’s move on now to the next part.

DISPLAY

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the display of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the type of screen of the device, the screen size, the screen resolution and pixel density and also see whether or not the display of the LG Optimus L3 E405 has any screen protection on it and any particularities that might set it apart from the rest of the phones. The LG Optimus L3 E405 has a TFT Capacitive Touchscreen with 256 thousand colors. The screen size of the LG Optimus L3 E405 is around 3.2 inches and said screen can house a resolution of approximately 240 x 320 pixels. The pixel density of this device is around 125 ppi, which isn’t a whole lot ( quite the opposite, really ). This phone also has Multitouch, however, it is not the advanced sort of multitouch which can support more than 2 simultaneous fingers on it. Unfortunately, the LG Optimus L3 E405 has no notable screen protection so you’ll have to be extra careful with it. The LG Optimus L3 E405’s display also has no further particularities that might make it stand out from a crowd. That’s about it for this part, so let’s move on now to the next one.

SOUND

Next up we’ll be taking a brief look at the audio output capabilities of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here we”l be taking a look at whether or not the device has any sound enhancement installed on it, be it software based or otherwise, since most people already know that all android phones can use anything as their Alert Types and that all phones have a standard Loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack.  Sadly, the LG Optimus L3 E405 has no sound enhancement whatsoever installed on it, so I guess you could say that this phone is pretty basic as far as sound is concerned. That being said, let us move on now to the next part of the review.

MEMORY

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the memory of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the internal storage space of the LG Optimus L3 E405 and ways of expanding said storage space, and also a few details about the RAM memory of the phone. The LG Optimus L3 E405 has an internal storage space of around 1 GB. Since that isn’t nearly enough for most people, this phone also has a Micro SD card slot which uses any Micro SD card of up to 32 GB. This phone also has a RAM memory of approximately 384 MB of RAM, which isn’t a whole lot, but as I already said, this phone isn’t altogether that powerful. Since I’ve nothing left to say on this part, let us move on now to the next part of the review.

DATA CONNECTION

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the connectivity of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the GPRS and EDGE of the device, the Speed and WLAN and also the Bluetooth, USB and other ( if any ) connections. The LG Optimus L3 E405 has a GPRS Class 12 with 4+1, 3+2, 2+3 and 1+4 slots which reaches a speed of around 32 ~ 48 KB/s. This phone also has EDGE, however, it isn’t mentioned what Class it is or what speed it can reach. The Speed of the phone is as following : HSDPA at around 3.6 MB/s and HSUPA. The WLAN of the LG Optimus L3 E405 is a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot and DLNA. The Bluetooth connection of the LG Optimus L3 E405 is a v3.0 one with A2DP and EDR. This phone’s USB port is a Micro USB v2.0 one. That about covers the connectivity, so let’s move on now

CAMERA

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the camera of the device. Here you can find out a bit about the main and secondary cameras of the device ( if any ) as well as see their features and capabilities. The main camera of this phone is a 3.15 MP one. This camera can photograph at resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels. The only features of this camera are : autofocus and geo-tagging. The video recording quality of this camera is VGA at around 24 frames per second. Sadly, the LG Optimus L3 E405 has no secondary frontal camera, so there’s no point in continuing this part. That being said, let us move on now to the next part.

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the battery life of the LG Optimus L3 E405, since we know that battery is usually such a huge concern with Android Phones. Here you can find out a bit of info about the battery type of the device as well as see how long said battery can function. The LG Optimus L3 E405’s battery is a Standard Li-Ion 1540 mAh battery. This battery can run for around around 600 hours of stand-by in both 2G and 3G and up to 12 hours and 30 minutes of talk-time in 2G and up to 10 hours talk-time in 3G mode. That’s all that can be said about the battery of this phone, so let’s move on now.

HARDWARE

Next up we’ll be taking a look at the hardware of the LG Optimus L3 E405. Here you can find out a bit about the three main hardware components : processor, motherboard and graphics card. The processor of the LG Optimus L3 E405 is a Single-Core 800 MHz Cortex-A5. This processor is accompanied by a Qualc0mm MSM7225A Snapdragon motherboard and an Adreno 200 GPU. That’s it for the hardware of this phone, so let’s move on now.

The OS version of this phone is Android OS v2.3.6 Gingerbread. Sadly, this phone has no update to v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and there is no certain news that it will ever be upgraded to that version.
